Origami Size

For DNA nanostructures, choosing what class of structure to use depends on what size you want the origami to be. For <10 nm, small multi-strand complexes like tetrahedra1 are typically chosen. For nanostructures in the 100 nm range scaffolded origami are a common choice2. Within scaffolded origami, designers can retain size control by choosing scaffolds of different lengths3. Mini scaffolds can be prepared or purchased for origami in the 10–30 nm range. For structures >500 nm, two main approaches exist: hierarchical assembly of multi-origami complexes456 or DNA bricks7.
